Mr Thomas is very caring in his approach and approachable His deliverance in consultation shows a compassionate and empathetic man. Quite literally I felt in safe hands and I remember saying to him ' will you be operating on me ', he replied ' yes' and I said 'what a great partnership we will have '. He ensured that I fully understood the choices I had, drew diagrams and I and my daughter who accompanied me were able to ask any questions an raise concerns over any issues, which he answered with confidence although difficult the impression was not false hope but reality. On waking from the operation I felt better than I imagined I would and the aftercare I received in the clinic again was re-assuring by him saying when he checked the wound ' I am happy with that ' was very positive to hear. I did feel concerned about looking at myself after the operation, I had a partial breast removal, but to my amazement it was so neat and not nearly as scary as I imagined and did heal well. I would thoroughly recommend Mr Thomas, you will be in safe hands. I cannot think of any constructive suggestions. Thank you Mr Thomas you will always be a heroe to me.

Mr Thomas preformed a single mastectomy on me recently. This was my first and hopefully last experience of having an operation and I felt very at ease by Mr Thomas. He was very attentive when I was in hospital and there is nothing negative I can say about his care and my stay at Southend General hospital.

I saw Mr Thomas following a diagnosis of breast cancer to discuss surgical options. throughout this process Mr Thomas was very clear in his explanations of each option with myself and my husband. He made sure we had all the necessary pros & cons to make an informed decision and that we were clear that we could change that decision and were given the necessary time to be sure. The surgical process was efficient and I felt that I was being monitored closely throughout. Post op I was supported and advised and felt I could approach the hospital at any time if I was at all concerned about my recovery. regular post op clinic appts. were great to ensure healing was progressing as it should and my referral for follow up cancer treatment was dealt with seamlessly. Both myself and my husband felt that we were dealt with respectfully and in an unhurried way which is so important when you are trying to digest such profound information. Even as a nurse with 20 years experience and rather more insight into the whole hospital experience than most I felt reassured and confident that my treatment would be successfully managed.

Mr Harun Thomas is not only a first rate breast surgeon but also a wonderful human being who shows such great care and compassion to his patients. He performed my sister's mastectomy recently which went really well and she is currently recovering nicely and exactly how Mr Thomas described. From the outset he explained every step of the process, many times, making sure my sister was clear on what was ahead of her. He is kind with a gentle voice that instilled in her a confidence that any questions she may ask would be answered regardless of how 'silly' they may be.

Upon meeting Mr Thomas it was a pleasant surprise to find a highly qualified consultant who, as well as being professional, also has a warm and caring attitude towards his patients. I felt able to ask him any questions regarding my treatment. My concerns were answered thoroughly in a calm and compassionate manner, despite him probably having been asked the same questions many times before. I would recommend Mr Thomas to any other patients, not only for his bedside manner, but also for the excellent job he did with my successful surgery.
